Robert Franz

Since his appointment as Music Director of the Mansfield Symphony in 2003, Maestro Franz has taken this fine orchestra to all new artistic heights. As part of the Renaissance Performing Arts Association, this organization is uniquely situated to take advantage of all a thriving theater has to offer, while presenting the great symphonic repertoire. Because of its unique make-up, fully staged ballet, opera and Broadway musicals are standard part of the Symphony’s repertoire, as well as multi-disciplinary projects that involve film, actors and visual artists on stage with the symphony.

Maestro Franz has a passion for building bridges within the community. Under his direction, the Symphony is fast becoming a model for regional organizations that form an integral part of the fabric of the community. In partnering with the Mansfield Art Center, Richland Academy, Ashland Regional Ballet, NAMI of Richland County, the Richland County Library, the 179th Airlift Wing, dozens of local churches, the Ocie Hill Community Center and numerous other local organizations, the Symphony is breaking new ground as it clarifies what it means to be a local symphonic orchestra.
